Q2 creates an online banking platform that financial institutions use to transform their customers online banking experience. Due to the sensitive and competitive nature of fin-tech, I signed an NDA, but can speak in broad terms about the work I did.
Select users were still on outdated browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer). As the banking platform was becoming more sleek and cutting edge, user experiences of those on outdated browsers would become less smooth and secure than those on more modern browsers.
Help users migrate from outdated browsers to modern browsers that will enhance and secure their online banking experience. Prior to viewing the banking platform after login, users on outdated browsers would view a soft block page encouraging them to update their browser and presenting various modern browser options.
Create interface designs using Sketch that consider how varying user scenarios, operating systems, accessibility barriers, and interaction possibilities could impact the likelihood of users updating their browser.
Kick off meeting to outline requirements. Research into competitor work, internal research findings, and academic writings on user trust.
This was done in an effort to understand how to encourage users to chose to update their browser sooner than later. A large takeaway was that the block page should match the banking platform branding as closely in order to gain user trust.
Sketching and wire-framing motivated by research findings and requirements.
I would often sign up to present my progress in the weekly design studio sessions.
Walked the user testing team through my design functionality and goals in preparation for testing.
Prior to handing my designs to software, I would iterate via asking some key questions.
After testing and iteration, my work was approved for hand off to software.
This did not end my involvement in the project, but changed the nature of my role.
